Construction work begins on new Yuma County Administration Services building at 197 S. Main St.

(CIP 2.1704)
In April 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved a plan that consisted of purchasing property located at 185 S. Main Street and, together with existing County facilities at 197 S. Main St., demolishing all existing structures on the combined site, in preparation of construction of the new Yuma County Administration Services (YCAS) building. The project includes construction of a new three (3) story building plus full basement, totaling approximately 100,000 square feet for the following tenants - Board of Supervisors Auditorium and offices, Communications Studio and offices, Assessor, Recorder, Election Services, Treasurer, County Administration, School Superintendent, Human Resources, Financial Services, and Office of Management & Budget (OMB).

Demolition of the buildings at 185 and 197 S Main Street was completed in May 2023 as part of the first phase of the project. The second phase included excavation and earthwork activity below the outline of the new building, along with structural steel fabrication for the new structure. This phase continued through the fall of 2023. The third and current phase includes the construction of basement footings and foundation, construction of the freight elevator shaft, and erection of the building’s steel frame. This work will continue into the spring of 2024, when the final phase will commence.

Construction of the building is expected to be complete in summer of 2025.
