ABOUT THE GIS DIVISION 
The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Division operates under the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department. It consists of five GIS professionals dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the Yuma County Enterprise GIS System. A GIS system enables us to capture, create, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, convert, and visually represent geographic data.  Currently, the GIS Division supports and collaborates with more than fifteen county departments, divisions, and local government agencies, serving both public-sector enterprises and the general public.

A MISSION 
A primary function of the GIS Division is to improve decision-making through accurate digital mapping solutions. We believe that having quality geospatial data readily available simplifies and enhances the decision-making process. The GIS Division is committed to developing, promoting, assisting, and maintaining the enterprise GIS system, which is accessible to county departments and the public to improve public services. 

STRATEGIC GOALS 

• To maintain a Local Government Enterprise Licensing Agreement with ESRI, ensuring that GIS software and tools remain accessible to Yuma County. ESRI stands as the global leader in GIS software, mapping solutions, spatial analysis tools, and mobile technologies. This extensive agreement facilitates the deployment of GIS software as required across Yuma County’s infrastructure and GIS framework. Furthermore, the GIS Division consistently oversees and services the hardware and additional software associated with GIS technology, ensuring optimal performance and high availability.
  
  
• The GIS Division carries out outreach activities and needs assessments for county departments to strategize future GIS improvements and solutions. This approach promotes GIS capabilities, fosters interest in the technology, and aims to offer new services to additional agencies.
   
• Training in GIS is essential for practical use. The GIS Division offers training and technical assistance to both new and current county GIS users. This training is available in various formats, including personalized one-on-one sessions or classroom settings. The GIS Division is committed to promoting the use of GIS spatial data and solutions among end users.
