City Run & Fun Walks

2018/2019 Series of 5K/10K Runs & Fun Walks

Registrations for the City Fun walk/runs series 2018/19 is open. Log into your HRintouch portal to register for the runs. Sign up for all the runs at one time or sign up for a specific month. Registrations are due by Monday, the week of run by noon.

Family (not on health plan) & Friends wishing to participate may do so by contacting the City of Yuma Parks & Recreation (928) 373-5200 for registration and payment information.

Welcome to the "Fitness Challenge"

Our Pre-Holiday Fitness Challenge will be kicking off on Wednesday, October 31, 2018!

The purpose of the Pre-Holiday Fitness Challenge is to promote, encourage and support participants in establishing and maintaining a healthy weight-loss and exercise program that demonstrates a healthy and active lifestyle.

Participation is voluntary; anyone who would like to reach or maintain a healthy weight is encouraged to participate. Only employee’s that are covered under the Yuma County Employee Benefit Trust (YCEBT) medical plan are eligible to participate. * This challenge is only for employees -dependents are not eligible to participate at this time.

How & When:
This is an 5 week Challenge beginning October 31, 2018 and ending on December 4, 2018. Participants must attend the initial and final measurements to be eligible for a prize. All measurement submissions and measurement photos are kept confidential.

 The initial measurements will be conducted on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the following times & locations:
 BOS Auditorium
198 S. Main Street
7:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
 Main Library – Conference Room
2951 S 21st Drive
2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The final measurement screening will occur on December 4, 2018 at the following times & locations:
 BOS Auditorium
198 S. Main Street
7:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
 Main Library – Room B
2951 S 21st Drive
2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.


Criteria for Winning:
Participants must attend the initial and final measurement. Measurements will only be hosted on the dates and times provided above with the exception of those employees who will be out for work trainings; all other employees must make sure to arrange their schedule to attend initial and final measurements. All measurements and photos are kept confidential. Measurement screenings must be conducted in light-weight clothing - preferably gym attire. Please avoid wearing skirts, dresses or cargo pants on these days. Both measurement submissions must be done in the same outfit.

Winning will be based on combined total inches lost from team members’ waist ONLY.

There will be a total of 4 activities that must be completed with your buddy during the 5-weeks. The activities include: Complete 150,000 steps on the “Step It Up Challenge” through Blue Cross Blue Shield, attend an employer activity (Lunch and Learn or Yuma County Training), attend a walk at Smucker’s Park, a hike at Telegraph Pass, or the Turkey Trot Fun Walk or Run, and to exercise at least 30 minutes for 20 days within the 5 weeks
