Workers' Compensation is a system created by Arizona law that requires an employer to provide insurance benefits to its employees who have a job-related injury or disease. Workers' compensation is a no-fault insurance that makes employers absolutely liable for the job-related injuries or illnesses of its employees. Therefore, under workers' compensation, there is no need to for employees to sue their employers to receive insurance benefits. All benefits paid are based upon schedules established by the Arizona Legislature. Workers' compensation losses are classified as medical only (where an employee visits a doctor but does not lose enough time from work to be compensated) or indemnity (where an employee's injury incurs medical bills as well as compensable time away from work). Yuma County self-insures its workers' compensation insurance, which means that all losses are paid using County funds set aside for this purpose. All workers' compensation claims are administered by the County's third-party administrator, CorVel Corporation, if you have any questions please call Human Resources. If you are a County employee and have questions regarding your workers' compensation claim or would just like to have more information concerning your workers' compensation benefits, please call Yuma County Human Resources. |
