The Water Conservation Grant Fund (WCGF) offers financial support to eligible entities aiming to conserve Arizona's water supply.

In May 2023, Yuma County applied for WCGF funding of $1,500,000 to establish a comprehensive Water Conservation program within its facilities. This initiative focuses on replacing traditional grass landscaping with drought-resistant alternatives, such as native plants and rock features, following xeriscaping principles. Additionally, the program will include a Water Efficiency Assessment of county buildings to identify further conservation opportunities and cost savings and create Yuma County’s Water Conservation Plan. Educational materials on water conservation will also be provided to county staff and the public.

In December 2023, Yuma County was awarded $1,500,000 from the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona (WIFA), complemented by a $375,000 match from Yuma County, bringing the total funding available for this program to $1,875,000.
