WHAT'S NEW...
Upcoming two week schedule:
- Work continues on the installation and backfill of 96-inch RGRCP storm drain and culvert heading across the park toward Avenue A
- Park Pathway scheduled to be reinstated by September 30, 2025
- Work at KOFA is substantially complete. Contractor is working on addressing minor items requested by KOFA High School.
- Contractor currently is working on completion of the 36" sanitary sewer line along East Main canal, and is expected to be complete by August 8, 2025. Old sewer line will then be removed to commence tie-in of the lateral sewer systems.
- Contractor has commenced installation of the 42" RGRCP storm drain and headwall construction towards Avenue A and Westridge Drive.
- Avenue A storm drain will commence once all other park storm drains are complete.
- All work on Avenue A will be conducted simultaneously to minimize impact on Avenue A.
Project working hours will be 5:00am to 5:00pm, Monday thru Friday for approximately one year. Prior notification to be provided if work is scheduled outside of the regular work hours. Residents should expect equipment entering and exiting park along North Avenue A access.
General Description
Smucker Park and adjacent property will undergo construction for flood control measures.
The park is located at 2913 S. Avenue A in Yuma, between the Yuma Regional Medical Center and West 32nd Street.
The project includes installation of new storm drainage and sanitary sewer systems, construction of an embankment, street improvements, and flood mitigation measures such as installing a floodgate, floodwall, overflow spillway and pump station. Project work will occur Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for approximately one year.
