What's New...
Upcoming Schedule:
Yuma County has received $610,000 in AZ Smart Funds to complete the final design of this project. ADOT and Yuma County are in the process of signing an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA). Once the IGA is signed, ADOT will engage a consultant engineer to complete the design from 30% to 100%. The final design is anticipated to begin by April 2024 and be complete by March 2025. Yuma County is starting the process to purchase right-of-way required for the construction of this project.
General Description
Yuma County, in coordination with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), is planning a roadway construction project that would provide an approximately 6.10 mile-long asphalt-paved roadway connection between State Route (SR) 195 and US Highway 95, within and adjacent to the City of San Luis, Yuma County, Arizona. The proposed new roadway would begin at the Avenue E and SR 195 intersection, traveling northeast and passing to the east of Rolle Airfield, tying into Avenue D alignment, and then extending north, terminating approximately 0.50 miles north of County 18th Street. The roadway would include two 12-foot-wide travel lanes (one in each direction), and eight-foot-wide asphalt-paved shoulders throughout the project limits. The project would require new right-of-way (ROW), and new permanent easement on lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Reclamation withdrawn lands, lands managed by the Arizona State Land Department, and private landowners. The purpose of the project is to improve regional mobility and traffic operations by providing a north-south corridor between the San Luis Port of Entry II and the communities of Somerton and Yuma.
