Eligibility Factors for Mental Health Court:

  • Placed on standard probation
  • Determined seriously mentally ill or pending determination, Axis 1 primary diagnosis or co-occurring MH/SA disorder, or as deemed appropriate by the Court.
  • Mental capacity and ability to understand legal proceedings, expectations/conditions of the MHC program, and potential consequences of non-compliance.
  • Voluntary participation.
  • A minimum of 18 months remaining time to serve on probation.

Probationers make frequent appearances before the Judge depending on their progress in the program.

Probationers receive treatment and other services in the community.

Program staff collaborate with community resources for housing, residential treatment, substance abuse issues, mental health services, etc.
