The Yuma Fair Housing Committee and Arizona Western College have collaborated for the fourth consecutive year to create a poster that draws attention, raises awareness, and provides contact information to assist our community with fair housing issues.
The Fair Housing Act ensures equal access to rental housing and homeownership opportunities and prohibits discrimination on the sale, rental and financing of housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability and family status.
Students from AWC’s Visual Communication program explored the subjects of discrimination, equality, and civil rights in order to better understand the importance of being a citizen designer. Please choose the poster that you believe represents the message of Fair Housing and cast your vote!
The winner will be announced Friday, April 26 at 6 p.m. at the Yuma Art Center, 254 S Main Street, during a reception open to the public to proclaim April as Fair Housing Awareness Month. Additionally, the community is invited to join the 11th Community Resources & Fair Housing Festival on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 350 E 18th Street (Harvest Preparatory Academy).
