Post Date:04/03/2026 12:00 PM

Yuma County has selected Jeremy Jeffcoat as its next Chief Information Officer, bringing to the role a combination of public-sector technology leadership, prior County experience and military service.

Jeffcoat began serving in the position March 30. He most recently served at the City of Yuma as IT Assistant Director for the Yuma Regional Communications System, where he led modernization efforts to improve reliability and system uptime for YRCS’s 95 regional agencies.Photo of Jeremy Jeffcoat, Yuma County CIO

Before that, Jeffcoat worked for Yuma County from 2007 to 2022 in County Information Technology Services and the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office IT Department. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology, a master’s degree in cybersecurity, and a Certified Public Manager credential.

The recruitment for the Yuma County CIO drew 99 applicants and included prescreening as well as two rounds of interviews.

“Jeremy stood out in a highly competitive recruitment process, and we are pleased to welcome him back to Yuma County in this leadership role,” County Administrator Ian McGaughey said. “His background in public-sector technology, his previous service to the County and his educational preparation make him well suited to help lead our information systems efforts moving forward.”

County officials said Jeffcoat demonstrated an ability to lead complex, multiagency technology initiatives, oversee multimillion-dollar budgets and grants, and foster collaboration across organizations.

“I am excited to be back at Yuma County to lead its technology strategies,” Jeffcoat said. “Information Technology Services is undertaking significant modernization and risk management initiatives to enable exceptional public service and resilient operations.”

Deputy County Administrator Josh Scott is expected to introduce Jeffcoat to the Board of Supervisors at its April 6 meeting.

McGaughey also thanked Scott for helping lead the IT department during the transition and for working with Human Resources and the County’s recruiter throughout the hiring process.
