The ceremony will be held 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 4 at Kiwanis Park, 8275 S. Avenue 40E in Tacna.
The improvements were made possible through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) State Special Project competitive award administered by the Arizona Department of Housing. The total investment in the Kiwanis Park project is $500,000.
“This project is about making sure more families can fully enjoy their community park, including children and caregivers with mobility needs,” said District 3 Supervisor Darren Simmons.
The upgraded play and spectator areas include:
- Inclusive, ADA-compliant playground equipment with wheelchair-accessible surfacing.
- Aero Glider with ramp access, Accessible Whirl, swing set, and sensory play elements.
- Concrete walkways and ramps improving access throughout key areas.
- ADA amenities, including accessible tables, benches, dugout seating, and spectator bleachers.
