The community is invited to join the 11th Annual Community Resource & Fair Housing Festival on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 350 E. 18th Street (Harvest Preparatory Academy).
Join us for an opportunity to learn about housing resources and fair housing rights from a number of experienced and informed participants. Come and enjoy raffle drawings, and watch various Yuma County Schools perform skits depicting fair housing discrimination, and much, much more.
“The Fair Housing Act ensures equal access to rental housing and homeownership opportunities and prohibits discrimination on the sale, rental and financing of housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, and familial status.”
We’re asking for the community’s help in choosing the poster that best represents the message of fair housing. Your vote counts! Posters will be on display at Yuma City Hall, Yuma County Library and WACOG. You can also view and vote for your favorite poster on the Yuma County website now thru April 21st.
The winner will be announced on Friday, April 26 at 6 p.m. at the Yuma Art Center at 254 S Main Street, during a reception open to the public to proclaim April as Fair Housing Awareness Month. The 11th annual Yuma Housing Festival is co-sponsored by City of Yuma, Yuma County, Western Arizona Council of Governments, Housing Authority City of Yuma, Southwest Fair Housing Council, Arizona Western College, Harvest Preparatory Academy, Housing America and CityLINK.
