In each of Arizona’s fifteen counties, the County Attorney is elected to a four-year term by the voters from the county he/she represents. The County Attorney acts as the chief legal officer for the County, providing legal advice and representation to the County, its officers and political subdivisions. Our Mission Statement
"Our mission is to hold accountable those who commit crimes within the County, to support the statutory rights and emotional needs of victims and witnesses involved in the prosecutorial process, and to provide skilled and efficient legal representation to the County, its officers and the political subdivisions that represent the citizens of Yuma County."
Our Duties Include:
- Filing and defending lawsuits on behalf of the County;
- Assisting with adoption and mental health cases;
- Prosecuting both adult and juvenile offenders charged in felony cases and those misdemeanor cases that occur within the county but outside it's municipalities and towns;
- Promoting Victims' Rights by providing legal advocacy services, a victim compensation program and mandated notification of all scheduled court hearings.
- Providnig Restorative Justice programs to reduce crime and improve the quality of life in our County.
