Implement effective prevention strategies and combinations of approaches including efforts as education and support to encourage people to reduce risky behaviors to prevent further transmission of HIV by increasing community awareness, outreach, and testing.

Core Program Activities
Community Outreach, Prevention, and Partner Services provide resources to prevent further transmission of HIV infection. Services include targeted HIV prevention educational programs, testing services, workshops, and training.

The HIV Prevention Program is located within the Yuma County Public Health Services District, Nursing Division. The Program consists of two staff members.

Contact the health educator Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as we provide testing and linkage to care by appointment basis if you meet state guidelines.

Partner Services are designated to confidentially identify HIV positive individuals, notify partners of their possible exposure and provide infected persons and their partners with a range of medical, prevention and psychosocial services.

The HIV Prevention Program tracks the number of individuals infected with HIV in order to watch the trends of the epidemic. This information is used to target prevention activities and referral to/for HIV Care and Support Services.

HIV/AIDS data for the state of Arizona is available through the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) HIV Epidemiology website
