    The Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education and the Young Lawyers of Arizona are pleased to announce the 2018 Arizona Mock Trial Competition for Region One. This year's regional tournament will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Yuma County Justice Center.

    Bike Routes to debut in Foothills

    Over the coming weeks Foothills residents in Yuma County might see a decrease in vehicular traffic, but an increase in cyclists. Thirteen miles of bike routes will be shared with current traffic patterns in the Foothills and Mesa Del Sol areas.

    2018 Resident Survey aims to fine tune services

    Yuma County will launch an online survey to gauge residents’ assessment of how well the County is providing its services beginning February 1st. The 2018 Resident Survey will be available until March 31, and all residents, permanent or winter visitor, are encouraged to participate.

    eWIC Makes it Easier for Families to Get Healthy Foods

    The Arizona Department of Health Services has completed a multi-year effort to launch an electronic system called eWIC that replaces paper checks with a card for families that participate in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program.

    County Recorder to join national effort to bolster voter registration

    On September 26, 2017, Yuma County will be part of a celebration of National Voter Registration Day. It is all part of a 50-state effort to register voters before Election Day this November. The Yuma County Recorder’s Office will provide streamlined access to getting registered for any eligible Yuma County resident at the Yuma County Recorder’s Office, 192 S. Maiden Lane, in Historic Downtown Yuma.

    Flu Vaccine available soon! Time to plan ahead!

    The 2017-2018 Seasonal Influenza Vaccine will be available at the Health District, 2200 W. 28th Street, Yuma starting Tuesday, September 5th, 2017. Seasonal flu vaccinations are available for all individuals 6 months of age and older. The cost is $25.00 for adults and $10.00 for individuals 18 years and younger. Medicare Part B, AHCCCS and Private Insurance are accepted upon presentation of card.

    The Yuma County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on September 6, 2017, at 9:00 a.m., Yuma Arizona time, in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium at 198 South Main Street, Yuma, Arizona. Such hearing is a requirement if Yuma County is to enter into a purchase agreement (the “Agreement”) to be secured by a pledge of the revenues from excise taxes that Yuma County now or hereafter levies, except for any taxes hereafter levied for an inconsistent purpose. The Agreement is estimated to be in a dollar amount of $2,420,000 and to have total estimated financing costs of not to exceed $2,928,000 including interest.

    Equipment glitch no cause for alarm in Early Voting, Voters can only cast a single ballot

    City of Yuma residents need not be alarmed if they are a voter that has received two voting packages for the upcoming City of Yuma Primary Election. The City of Yuma contracts with Yuma County to conduct the upcoming election cycle and early ballots have been sent for the August 29th election.

    The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded Finance Department staff for Yuma County and the Yuma County Jail District with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for their diligence in publishing the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016.

    Yuma County to GRADE THE WAY to better roads

    Those businesses and citizens utilizing gravel roads in the area are in store for big changes in the condition of Yuma County Maintained Gravel Roads in the coming weeks. The Fiscal Year 2018 budget proposes to initiate an aggressive grading schedule of nearly 200 miles of County gravel roadways. A total of 4 gravel road maintenance teams, consisting of a grader and water truck, will be initiating maintenance starting July 3, 2017. Two teams will be dedicated to the Yuma area and west County, and two teams will be dedicated to east County.
